Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium helps us to support the students who need it most so we can raise their standards of achievement.

What is the Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium was set up in April 2011 and is an additional funding system for schools. It is designed to support disadvantaged students and narrow the achievement gap between them and their peers.

Which students benefit from the Pupil Premium?

There are three groups of students who benefit from this extra funding. These include:

  • Students who have been registered for free school meals (FSM) at any point in the last six years
  • Students who have been looked after by the local authority for more than six months
  • Children of service personnel

How much additional funding is this school entitled to?

The yearly Pupil Premium level for 2022-23 is £985 per eligible student, but the amount of funding our school gets depends in part on our student numbers for each academic year. Currently we have 228 students on role who are eligible for the pupil premium grant (December 2022).

This is a breakdown of who is eligible and how much schools receive for each student during the academic year 2022/23.

How will this school use this funding?

We use the Pupil Premium to address underlying inequalities between disadvantaged students and their peers. This funding helps us to give extra educational support and raise the standard of achievement for eligible students.

We aim to make sure this extra funding reaches the students who need it most and makes a significant impact on their education and lives.

How is funding paid to this school?

The Education Funding Agency (EFA) pays Pupil Premium directly to our school.

Who decides on how the funding is used?

We have agreed a policy and protocols for Pupil Premium between our Headteacher and Governing Body. This is to guide us on how we use this extra funding and to make sure it delivers value for money.

Our Headteacher and Leadership Team will regularly and carefully monitor, evaluate and review these strategies. We will then report back to the governing body on the progress and impact of the Pupil Premium.
